eCube Trials

Numerous trials have been conducted to verify energy savings that can be achieved by installing an eCube® to the air probes monitoring temperature inside refrigeration units.

Each trial ran for a period of two weeks. During the first week of each trial, the refrigeration unit was controlling temperature as normal, based upon air temperature. Data loggers were installed on the refrigeration unit capturing benchmark data of kilowatt hours used and the amount of compressor start/stop cycles. Then an eCube® was installed on top of the air probe and the same data was captured for a second week.

For each trial period, the temperature of the food, food simulant (eCube®) and circulating air in each refrigeration unit were measured to ensure that there was significant change in total number of kilowatts consumed as well as a reduction in compressor start/stop cycles, all while maintaining food at a constant temperature and ensuring food safety.
